I didn't go for the test drive today. I will go Monday. Here's some pictures of Knud at the Volvo dealership, waiting to be brought to salvage. The car was only damaged at the rear. It didn't even break any windows. It's hard to believe that the damage costs more to repair than the market value. Damned SUV was tall enough that it hit the trunk before it hit the bumper.

The first two pix show how much of Knud wasn't dmamged and the other three show the damage.

Oh, I know it isn't drivable without major repairs. Yes, the frame is damaged. It has already been declared a "Véhicule gravement accidenté" (seriously accidented vehicle). It would have to pass a very strict inspection with the SAAQ (motor vehicle department) to be allowed to be driven again. And it would say VGA on the registration, which lowers the market value.

The repair estimate was almost Cdn $8,000, with a caveat of "plus hidden damage".

Thanks. I think we were very lucky we were in a Volvo.
