I Googled for Heinlein quotes, because I wanted to find a particular one:

"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects."
-Lazarus Long, Time Enough For Love by Robert A. Heinlein.

Every now and then, I read that and think, "There's a few skills on that list that I should learn."

So, I came across a whole bunch of Robert A. Heinlein quotes and here are three that I really like. The last one gave me goosebumps and l send it to all of you as a heartfelt wish.

"Of all the strange 'crimes' that human beings have legislated of nothing, 'blasphemy is the most amazing - with 'obscenity' and 'indecent exposure' fighting it out for the second and third place."

"'Love' is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own... Jealousy is a disease, love is a healthy condition. The immature mind often mistakes one for the other, or assumes that the greater the love, the greater the jealousy.

"May you live as long as you wish and love as long as you live."

[ profile] baronscartop made a post about love. It reminded me of this quote:

Like an unchecked cancer, hate corrodes the personality and eats away its vital unity. Hate destroys a man's sense of values and his objectivity. It causes him to describe the beautiful as ugly and the ugly as beautiful, and to confuse the true with the false and the false with the true. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice. Justice at its best is love correcting everything that stands against love.
--Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968)
