Peeing while on snowshoes
Jan. 10th, 2004 04:07 amI wrote a little bit about living in La Macaza. The first time I ever used snowshoes was in La Macaza. I was out looking for a tree to cut down. It is very easy to use snowshoes. You just strap them on and go. They work much better in brush than cross country skis.
After I had been out for a while, I had to pee. Well, I've peed outdoors since I was a little kid, but I had never peed outside on snow. I have learned that if peeing on a slope, you must face directly up or downhill. If you don't, the pee will head downhill and get your shoes wet. This is particularly unpleasant in sandals. So, I made sure I was on a flat area.
I looked at the snowshoes and figured I better spread my feet apart, because I didn't want to pee on the snowshoes. But, with my feet apart, I couldn't pull down my jeans. So, I had to put my feet back as close together as they would go with snowshoes on and then pull my jeans down to my knees. It took a lot of little hops with one foot to get my feet far enough apart. It wasn't easy. But, I found out that you don't have to worry about the slope on snow. The warm pee just melts its way straight down. Of course all of this would have been much easier if I had known about A Woman's Guide on How to Pee Standing
