The leak and potato soup turned out yummy. Next time we won't use as much leak. That's cool, 'cuz leak is usually expensive here in North America. When I lived in Denmark, it was dirt cheap. So was celeriac. Oh well.

g'night all.

Is this the recipe that begins "First, take a leak"?

If you can get to any of the farmers' markets, especially toward the end of the day on a weekend, big bundles of leeks are often sold off cheapish this time of year. I like leek and zucchini soup myself, with tarragon.

No, it was actually the recipe in joy of cooking and it said to use eight leeks. We only used six, and that was too much.

Farmers' markets, what a great idea. Do you happen to have a URL that lists the various farmers' markets on the island?

That was a joke, sweetie.

There's a website which features the three major markets in the old City of Montreal: Jean-Talon, Atwater and Maisonneuve - and lists some of the neighbourhood ones, like the Marché Saint-Jacques at the corner of Amherst and Ontario. What it doesn't list is anything in the burbs, but I know the Marché de l'Ouest has some farmers' stalls, because I've been there with Ben. I can't remember exactly where it is, but I think it's on de Salaberry in DDO.

I had a feeling you would know a link ;) Thanks.

Yup, the Marché de l'Ouest is on de Salaberry - just down the road from me. But, for some reason, I never enjoy dealing with the producers there.
