Hooray, it was just the battery
Oct. 28th, 2003 01:29 amI took the Volvo to Swedish Auto Centre today. They tested the battery and the little machine said "bad battery, aborting test". So, they put in a new battery and ran the test again. This time it said everything electrical was fine. Phew. It still cost almost Cdn $200 with labour. And there is something a little off with the front suspension - a ball joint or something. They need to put the car up on the lift to tell. This is probably thanks to the City of Montréal's wonderful potholes. I'll have to have that looked at soon, but it isn't urgent.
The mechanic showed me how to remove a little black box. It slides off a clip - no tools required. Once that little box is moved, it is easy to get at the headlight to change the bulb. I had tried;
swestrup had tried, but there just wasn't enough space. Thankfully, it only cost me the bulb. We took the car to the dealership and they were going to charge me $22. But, they didn't have a bulb. I did. So, they put it in for me for free.
