Garden

2004 July 7 or 8, I planted my first garden, since the potatoes when I was a kid. It's a tiny little garden, about 2'x4'. [livejournal.com profile] swestrup helped me dig it up. I planted:

  • a green pepper plant

  • rosemary

  • coriander (cilantro)

  • a plant with pretty purple flowers, called "Blue Clip"
  • 6 garlic cloves

The very rainy summer we have been having has been great for the garden (well, some of the downpours have beaten up the garden a bit, but it survives). I have only had to water the garden once since planting it. A couple of weeks ago, I finally found some chives and planted them. Everything is doing well. The green pepper plant has two peppers, one of them half red. The cilantro is now small bushes. The garlic is tall and the greens are yummy. The rosemary is quietly growing. The flower plant seems to be just past making more flowers (it made lots of them). And the tomato plants have gone crazy. I've had to stake them, then tie them to the fence and stake branches. There are loads of little green tomatoes and there are even four or five that are turning red. I really like this gardening stuff.

By the way, [livejournal.com profile] tepintzin, do you know any good recipes that use cilantro? I have loads of it.
