I found the chicken stock, not in the fridge, but in the drawer at the bottom of the stove, where we keep pots and pans. Ew. That went straight into the compost.

The stock was still in the pot. It's a small pot that I don't use very often. If I hadn't wanted that particular pot, it could have sat there until it stank enough to notice with the lid on it.

We've done that! Steve made jalapeno poppers once and put them in a cupboard instead of the fridge. We found them a week later.

The shepherd's pie that we found in the oven, days later. We had made two batches, eaten half of one, put those leftovers away, and forgotten the other.

I can see how that might happen. But, it was in a reasonable place. You guys hadn't put it away in a completely wrong place.
