I went to Brunswick Medical yesterday and saw a very nice doctor. He immediately said that I needed a prescription for a cane and Motrin. Well, I got the cane, but ibuprofen doesn't work on me, but ASA does, so I didn't need a script for that. I am now the proud owner of a shiny new cane. He also gave me a script for X-rays. He said that if the ankle wasn't feeling a lot better in two days, to go get the ankle x-rayed. Well, it's feeling much better. The cane certainly helps, but it still needs to be elevated a lot of the time. A friend suggested taking a potassium supplement to help prevent the leg cramps. I'm doing that and no leg or foot cramps since Saturday.

[livejournal.com profile] swestrup is taking the potassium too. I did some web research and it makes perfect sense. One site mentioned that people on high protein diets often don't get enough potassium. And I had a look at my daily vitamin/mineral supplement and was startled to see that it has no potassium! It does have calcium and magnesium, the lack of which can cause cramps too. Thank you for suggesting the potassium.

Motrin is what the Army gives you for any pain you report. Twisted the knee? Motrin. Hip bursitis? Motrin. Stepped on an IED? Tourniquet and Motrin.

What do they give people like me? Ibuprofen doesn't do anything for me.

Dunno. I'm immune to Tylenol, myself.
