Oh my goodness, diluted, unsweetened cranberry juice is wow tangy and yummy. I wonder if it would be this yummy if I didn't have the urinary infection. Maybe making it that yummy is my body's way of telling me, "Yes, yes, more!" I have only had unsweetened cranberry juice in a drink called a "Cape Cod" - Vodka and unsweetened cranberry juice. I'll have to admit, I really like that drink.

In other news: poor [livejournal.com profile] swestrup seems to be ill. He walked to the bank (about 3 blocks) and the health food store for the cranberry juice and the dep for cream on the way back. He was exhausted when he got home. This wouldn't normally tire him out at all. He has been feeling that he might come be coming down with something for a few days. Please, don't get too ill before I'm well enough to take care of you.

I finally went to the clinic yesterday. Tuesday I started to wonder if what I have is actually the flue. My temperature was bouncing up above 40 C (104 F) more often than it has ever done with the flu and it was getting harder to bring it back down. I'll really didn't enjoy a 45 minute cold bath with my head in the water and water in my ears. But, [livejournal.com profile] swestrup was a real sweety about it and gently encouraged me when I whined.

I have some sort of urinary tract infection I forgot to ask for specifics; the doctor said something was growing in my urine. The doctor said that acetaminophen and ibuprofen work better at lowering temperature than ASA (aspirin to the the Yanks). The doctor assumed that I had the flu and an infection, so I might still need to beat the temperature back. I thought I would give ibuprofen a try. Just because it doesn't do anything for pain for me doesn't mean it won't necessarily be able to lower temperature. I went straight from the clinic to the pharmacy and had my prescription filled and picked up a bottle of ibuprofen. I started taking the antibiotics as soon as I got home. I thought I would take some ibuprofen too. Well, I shouldn't have bothered. My temperature was down to 36.58C (37.0C is considered normal). I guess spending time outside in the cold air helped.cut for length )

I'm a sicky. It started yesterday. My temperature is all over the place - up to 39.8. down to 37.2. So I have had sweating fits and serious shivering fits. I have been taking ASA to keep the temperature from going up to 40. I don't usually like to take something to lower my temperature, because my body is putting a lot of effort into raising my temperature to kill the microorganisms. But, 40C is pretty serious and [livejournal.com profile] swestrup can't drive me to the hospital, because he never learned to drive. I really don't think I'm in any condition to drive.

I'm currently wearing a t-shirt and long johns. I'm awfully warm at the moment. When I start to shiver I put on a pair of velour pants and a velour "sweater", on top of the t-shirt and long johns. I'm also wearing a damp rag on my forehead - held in place by a headband. I am camped out on the sofa with this laptop and a TV. I am not a happy camper. Heck, I'm even drinking ice water and anyone who knows me knows that Linda doesn't drink ice water.

I'm hungry and queasy at the same time. Sorta like "morning sickness". The only food I can contemplate without getting queasier is some whole grain cereal flakes with milk and tiny amounts of milk chocolate.

I'm tired of this.

I'm still sniffling and sneezing, but I am feeling so much more human today. Yay!

I hate to give in, but I seem to be ill. Coughing, sneezing, headache, no energy, fever. I hope this doesn't last long.

As some of you know, [livejournal.com profile] swestrup is feeling rotten. He has chest congestion, sinus woes, and a sore throat. [livejournal.com profile] blacksquiggles seems to have something similar. I am feeling fine. But, I have a big cough and slightly congested lungs. I've also been sneezing.

I took C vitamins, A vitamins (to help prevent sore throat), Activate (Melaleuca's "immune complex" with echinacea), and COLD-fX. I've never tried COLD-fX before. [livejournal.com profile] swestrup did some research on it and says that tests show that it is purely placebo effect. His mum swears by it. I'm feeling slightly psychic today. My "little voice" is telling me to take all of that stuff so I won't know which of them kept me from getting sick. I really don't need to be sick now, during tax season. The crunch is on.
