Are you referring to the Vise grips on the counter? That's not what my cat claw clippers look like. This is the kind I use:

Eh. It was funnier to interpret those grips as cat nail trimmers. I do find the kind pictured more convenient to use, too.

On a more serious note, I assume you two have filled the drain with salt again? I mean, at least this time you know how to unfreeze it in a day or two.
