I wanted to post something yesterday, but I was just too tired.
The cleaners were here yesterday. They removed the carpet from my office. Much to my surprise, it was held down with tack strips. The foam under pad was glued to the floor and the carpet was glued to the under pad. Man, I'm glad I didn't have to remove that. Then they washed the floor with solvent and then they sprayed disinfectant every where. I wasn't impressed with the job they did of cleaning in the laundry room side of the basement. There had been this whole discussion about dismantling some shelving, so they could get at the floor under it. The mover crew assured me that the cleaners would do that. Well, no one told them, so they didn't have the appropriate tools and didn't do it. Unfortunately, they didn't clean under the danged shelving, they just sprayed the disinfectant.
I still have some things that need to be decontaminated. The cleaner guys told me that someone would come pick them up. I haven't heard anything about that yet. So, I left a message with the insurance adjuster.
She tells me that a guy from the cleaning company will come Monday morning to inspect. He will check the cleaning job, condition of my walls, and humidity. She is having a piece of my ruined carpet sent to a company that will evaluate the quality of the carpet. They will replace it with a similar quality carpet. Actually, if I want better carpet, I can have that and pay the difference. I can even have laminate floor and pay any difference, it that's what I want. At some point the company that will replace the carpet will show me carpet of similar quality and possibly some laminate flooring, 'cause they do laminate flooring too.
I can hardly wait 'til this is over.
