It's Thursday. On Thursdays I fill up the gas tank, 'cause I get a 3¢ per litre discount on "Supreme" gas. I drive to Esso and stop next to the pumps where you pay at the pump. I point my Speedpass thingee at the appropriate part of the pump; it gets authorized; and I start to fill up the tank. But what's this? It stops after two litres. I try again and only get a tiny squirt. I try again, another tiny squirt, but I pull the nozzle out and sure 'nuff, the tank is full. I put the nozzle back in it's holder; put the cap on the gas tank; tell the pump I don't want a car wash; and pocket the receipt. I check the gauge on the instrument cluster, and sure 'nuff, the tank is full. What a waste of time. $1.84 and 2.528 litres of gas. I'm glad I don't have to face a cashier. I can slink off with no one the wiser. Well, it's not as embarrassing as showing up on Friday and asking what happened to the 3¢ per litre discount. (I've done that too.)
That whole Speedpass thing is weird. It charges the gas to my Zellers credit card. I earn HBC points and Esso Extra points. I wonder if I will ever do anything with those points...
