Public transit
Oct. 25th, 2007 02:25 amI went to the NaNoWriMo Meetup yesterday, Wednesday, evening with
swestrup. Since the service light has come on in the car, I am trying not to drive it more than I have to until I can get it serviced. I decided we should take public transit. It's been quite a while for me.
The first bus driver was nice about letting me sit down before he started the bus (remember, I'm walking with a cane). It was the rush hour bus that goes on the highway. While we were on Boulevard Côte Vertu, heading for the metro, he was tailgating some poor guy. He was frighteningly close. What's up with that? It can be pretty scary to have something big like a bus tailgating. On the trip home we took the commuter train. We got off and headed for the bus. The bus nearly took off without us. I waved my cane at the bus driver and she waited for us. But, she didn't wait for me to sit down. She took off immediately and headed round a bunch of curves. I squatted so I wouldn't have to balance with my bad foot. Good grief! Is this the kind of crap mobility impaired transit users have to put up with all the time?
I know that I wrote that I was walking without the cane, but about half way to the bus stop, my sprained ankle got tired and told me to "use the damned cane!"
